Metacognitive therapy

With Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), Alix Royer offers a unique approach that combines insight with action. This therapy is effective for anyone struggling with stress, overthinking, anxiety, exam nerves, or low mood. Discover how this method can help you take back control of your mental well-being.

Why Metacognitive therapy?

After a series of 4-12 sessions of MCT with Alix, clients who truly want to get rid of their anxious or depressed worries or ruminations, will discover that their complaints are strongly impacted by the way they deal with thoughts.

They learn that ruminating or worrying are not inevitable, and that they can retake control over their thinking. Thus, negative emotions and thoughts no longer control your mind!

Alix's approach of MCT

Do you feel like you have to worry? Does worrying or ruminating actually lead to anything positive?
People struggling with stress or low mood often believe they have no choice but to worry—or that overthinking will eventually lead to solutions.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) doesn’t focus so much on the content of your negative thoughts, but rather on how you relate to them. Clients often find this approach both surprising and liberating.

Alix was trained as a Metacognitive Therapist by Professor Adrian Wells, the founder of the method, and is internationally certified. When needed, she complements MCT with practical tools that strengthen the therapy. The result is effective and personalized support, tailored to each client’s unique needs.

An example:

An intelligent young woman, about to join an international consulting firm, felt overwhelmed by perfectionism and failure anxiety. Four sessions of MCT brought her the change she needed: she learned to deal with thoughts in different, helpful way, which caused her negative feelings to disappear. She has now been working with joy and success as a consultant for several years.

"Alix has the ability to interpret my information in a way that resonates with me completely. As a result, I understand and accept myself so much better."
